New Delhi:
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is known to be a subject of headlines because of his explosive tweets. On Thursday, the 55-year-old director shared the news that actor Riteish Deshmukh will be making a film on Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji at a cost of over Rs 225 crore. Applauding the Heyy Babyy actor, Ram Gopal Varma said that Shivaji's story is more heroic than S S Rajamouli's Baahubali. "Shivaji's story has more heroism and drama than Baahubali and he was real unlike Baahubali which will make it a more thrilling experience," wrote Ram Gopal Varma. Hoping that the battle scenes in the film will be 'magnificent,' he thanked Riteish Deshmukh for taking the initiative to make the 'greatest Indian film ever.'
In another tweet, Ram Gopal Varma wrote: "Am sure Riteish is doing Shivaji at this large scale only for it to become ultimate pride of Maharashtra like Bahubali for Andhra Pradesh (sic)."
Chhatrapati Shivaji will be directed by Ravi Jadhav and produced by Riteish Deshmukh, reported news agency IANS.
Riteish Deshmukh was last seen in 2016 movie Banjo, co-starring Nargis Fakhri. He will next be seen in Bank Chor along with Vivek Oberoi and Rhea Chakraborty. The film, directed by Bumpy, is scheduled to release in theatres on June 16.
Meanwhile, Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar 3, starring Amitabh Bachchan is all set to release in theatres on May 12. The movie, which is the third installment of Sarkar film series, also stars Ronit Roy, Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpayee, Amit Sadh and Yami Gautam.
