Babygirl with Nicole Kidman in the lead, and helmed by Halina Rejin has been a conversation starter at various film discussions this year.
The film is high on sexual tension. Kidman plays the role of a powerful CEO, who is also the ideal mother and wife.
In conversation with W Magazine, the director highlighted a particular scene in the erotic thriller that had also happened to her in real life.
It's a particular scene where Romy (Nicole Kidman) is sent a glass of milk, at a bar by a male intern Samuel, (Harris Dickinson). The sexual tension between the two characters is palpable, as Romy chugs down the glass of milk while having an eye-contact moment with the young associate.
Rejin spoke about how a similar thing had happened to her when she was in her '30s. A much younger actor had sent across a glass of milk to her at a bar.
She said, "I drank it, and he just walked out. I thought, 'How does this guy get the courage?' I did think it was a very sensual thing to do. And I thought it was very funny."
Recalling some BTS moments of the film, the director added how a fight coordinator was onboarded to choreograph the intense sex scenes between the lead pair.
She corroborated, "It's the same with sex scenes. It's very, very useful to have someone who knows all the little tricks and makes everyone feel safe."
The film is yet to be released in theatres. It's currently running successfully in selected theatres in the US and Canada.
