New Delhi:
Would you pay to watch Charlie Sheen?
Hollywood's bad boy's recent lackluster performance at the opening night at Detroit of his month-long, 20-city tour- Violent Torpedo of Truth disappointed his 'fans', for the lack of a better word. If you have closely followed his recent rants and the other public break-downs over the years, you might find nothing new there. As the Two And A Half Men star babbled incessantly about how amazing he is and showed off his wonderful 'Goddesses' on stage, the audience became increasingly agitated.
Alas, it could only end one way. Even before the troubled star had finished saying what he had to say, the audience started chanting 'Refund'. Not one to take criticism lightly, Sheen snapped at a heckler, retorting, "I've already got your money, dude".
A night after his opening-night bomb, Sheen 'torpedo'ed his way through Chicago. What worked here? His hateful rant against Detroit, which successfully amused rival-state Chicago's audience quite a bit.
Hate to say, but that was a mighty smart way of working things in his favour. But that doesn't stop us from asking the question- just what is it in the quintessential bad boy that we all find so fascinating?
Closer back home, we have our very own Salman Khan, with his Dabangg ways with law and women. There are a lot of similarities in these two stars and the way the public has grown to love/hate them. They like to play it a little loose with the twelve rules, but does that stop us from looking at their vulnerable nature?
A wise person (surely a man, hah), once said, "Women like bad boys". Charlie and Salman are living proof that. Charlie's Goddesses are world-famous now and so are his many loves- lost and found. As for our Sallu, he's had the best of the lot. From former Miss World Aishwarya Rai to Barbie Doll Katrina Kaif, Salman has always managed to get the best of female company. What's more? He even digs out look-alikes of his former flames to get over them. Wowzers!
Meanwhile, their many heartbreaks are attributed more to the continuous clap-clap they keep on playing with the many rules of love than just mere bad luck. The wonderful thing about bad boys is their ability to bounce back at the end of the day- when the deed is done. Is that what fascinates us so?
We are no psychologists, but we do notice a certain curiosity the Forbidden Ones generate in our hearts. Wonder how many hearts these two will finally break when they DO decide to mend their ways and like they say, 'settle down'. Until then, Long Live The King!
