Indore: Four people, who claim to be heirs of the Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao 1 and his wife Mastani, filed a plea in the Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on December 3 seeking a stay on the release of the film Bajirao Mastani.

Bajirao Mastani casts Ranveer Singh as the Maratha leader Peshwa Bajirao I, Deepika Padukone as his warrior queen Mastani and Priyanka Chopra as his first wife Kashibai.

The petitioners alleged that the film portrayed their ancestors 'in poor light' which 'hurt their reputation.'

"Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani venture, which is aimed at earning profit, has distorted historical facts according to the film's promos and songs," one of the four petitioners, Awais Bahadur, who claimed to be the heir of Peshwa Bajirao and Mastani, told reporters here.(Also Read: Bajirao's Descendants Object to 'Altered History,' Dancing Kashibai)

"The film's scenes are highly objectionable to us and are hurting our reputation," he alleged.

Awais Bahadur claimed that he belonged to the eighth generation of Bajirao and Mastani.

Advocate A N Shaikh said that the hearing before the High Court had not been scheduled so far.
