Bappi Lahiri, who died at age of 69 in Mumbai last night, was remembered by members of the Hindi film fraternity. Actors and filmmakers remembered the legend for his stupendous contribution to the Hindi cinema. Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Vidya Balan and other stars paid tribute to Bappi Lahiri on Twitter. The singer had been in hospital for a month, where he was being treated for multiple health issues, news agency PTI reported. "Today we lost another gem from the music industry... Bappi Da, your voice was the reason for millions to dance, including me. Thank you for all the happiness you brought through your music. My heartfelt condolences to the family. Om Shanti," wrote Akshay Kumar.
Veteran actor Chiranjeevi posted a throwback with the legend and wrote: "Deeply anguished at the demise of legendary music director and singer Bappi Lahiri. I had a great association with Bappi da. He gave numerous chartbusters for me, which contributed immensely to my films popularity. He will always be remembered for his unique style and his great enthusiasm for life which reflected in his music. My heartfelt condolences to all his near and dear."
"I wish you joy wherever you go Bappi da because that's what you brought to the world through your music and your being. Love always, Bidda (as you'd so endearingly call me)," wrote Vidya Balan. Bappi Lahiri had sung Ooh La La from The Dirty Picture, in which Vidya Balan featured in the lead role.
Anil Kapoor, who had featured in a few of Bappi Lahiri's songs, wrote: "Bappi Da gave us some great musical films like Saheb, Mohabbat , Insaaf Ki Awaaz and Zindagi Ek Jua...the song Pyaar Bina Chain Kahan Re will remain iconic.. Will miss his warm, humble and child like innocence always."
Anil Kapoor's daughter Sonam Kapoor wrote this, "Om Shanti. One of my favourite songs of his was from my fathers film Saheb. Sad day."
Veteran actress Hema Malini wrote: "Bappi Lahiri or Bappi Da as he was affly called, passed away around midnight.He will be remembered for his new disco music and fast numbers which he introduced in films, something no one had done earlier. He will be sorely missed by the industry & by all his many fans. Condolences."
"Shocked to hear about Bappi Lahiri Ji's demise. Bappi Da, you have left the world, but you will stay in our hearts forever. Deepest condolences to the family. Om Shanti," tweeted Sanjay Dutt, who featured in his song Tamma Tamma.
Madhuri Dixit, who was also a part of Bappi Lahiri's Tamma Tamma, wrote: "This is a big loss for the Hindi music industry. Today we've lost a gem with a golden heart and a golden voice while the heaven found it's treasure. You'll be truly missed, Bappi Da... Rest in eternal melodious peace..."
Kajol, who was pictured at Bappi Lahiri's house on Wednesday, wrote on Twitter: "Today we lost the disco king, Bappi Da you were not only an amazing music composer and singer but also a beautiful and happy soul. End of an Era. May your soul rest in peace."
Anupam Kher posted a video on Koo, which he captioned: "Kyun chale jate hain duniya se kuchch log (Why do some people have to leave this world) ?"

Ranveer Singh posted a heartbroken emoji along with throwback pictures of Bappi Lahiri.

"Rest in golden glory Bhappi da. Thank you for the music," read Abhishek Bachchan's tribute.

Shahid Kapoor wrote this in his tribute for Bappi Lahiri: "Grew up listening and dancing to all your songs. Your music brought people together... To dance, laugh, and live. Your talent and passion will truly be missed. Rest in peace Bappi da."

Huma Qureshi shared a throwback picture with Bappi Lahiri and she wrote: "There was only one Bappi Da .. I was blessed to have witnessed and danced to your music .. thank you for the memories.. Deepest condolences to the family. Farewell Disco King."
Bhumi Pednekar, in her tribute for Bappi Lahiri wrote: "Complete Loss Of Words. Heartbroken by the demise of The legendary Bappi Lahiri Ji, Truly a big loss. My condolences to his family and fans. Your music will live on forever sir."
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar wrote: "Really enjoyed Bappi Da's music, especially "yaad aa raha hai" - heard it several times in the dressing room. The range of his talent was truly amazing. Aap hamesha hume yaad rahoge Bappi da."

In the recent years, Bappi Lahiri sang tracks like Bambai Nagariya from Taxi No 9211 (2006), Ooh La La from The Dirty Picture (2011) and Tune Maari Entriyaan from 2014 film Gunday.
Other than Hindi cinema, Bappi Lahiri also gave music for films in Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Gujarati cinema. His last Bollywood song titled Bhankas was for the 2020 film Baaghi 3.
Bappi Lahiri is credited as a pioneer of disco music in Bollywood. His most popular tracks were from the films Disco Dancer, Dance Dance and Namak Halaal. He composed and sang iconic songs like Koi Yaha Naache Naache from Disco Dancer and Pyar Bina Chain Kaha from Saheb, to name a few. Other than his music, Bappi Lahiri was known for his signature style of wearing gold chains and sunglasses.
