Los Angeles: Director Baz Luhrmann, who recently worked with Leonardo DiCaprio in The Great Gatsby, wants to cast the star in Hamlet.

The 50-year-old Baz Luhrmann has already have worked with Leonardo DiCaprio twice before and he now wants him in his next projectas well.

"To me, Gatsby is the American Hamlet. What else could we possibly do as a follow-up ?" said Baz Luhrmann.

He said he needs to persuade Leonardo DiCaprio to take on another Shakespeare work to complete their bookish trifecta, said Hollywood Reporter.

"It's just a dream at this point," he added.

The Great Gatsby is slated for a release in the US on May 10 and in UK on May 16.
