Superstar Salman Khan and filmmaker Subhash Ghai's co-production Hero will release on September 4. The film was initially slated to release on September 25. The film is a remake of the 1983 film of the same name.
Salman took to microblogging site Twitter to announce the release date alongside a poster of the film featuring Suraj Pancholi, son of Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab.
He tweeted:
Meanwhile, Athiya, daughter of Suniel and Mana Shetty, has been cast as the female lead.
The first look of the film was unveiled in May this year, which featured the title of the movie and the words - "Love. Rebels. Freedom."
Hero was originally directed and produced by Mr Ghai, with Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Sheshadri in the lead.
The remake is directed by Nikhil Advani, and it also stars Govinda, Anita Hassanandani, Vinod Khanna and Kader Khan in pivotal roles.
