Benedict Cumberbatch in a still from The Imitation Game.
Los Angeles:
Actor Benedict Cumberbatch says that The Imitation Game script "struck a chord" with him and he wanted to play the role of the mathematician Alan Turing.
Benedict had been eyeing the role since the time he was filming Star Trek and kept track of the project in order to get the role.
"I first learned about The Imitation Game when I was filming Star Trek. Back then the script was with a different studio and a different actor. I basically kept a track of the project and that, perhaps, is the only time I have done something like this to get and want a role. There was something about the script that really struck a chord with me," he said in a statement.
The 38-year-old star has already been nominated for his performance in the film for the best actor in drama category in the Golden Globe awards.
The film has received five Golden Globe nominations and will hit Indian screens on January 23, 2015.
Besides Benedict, the film also features actors Keira Knightley and Charles Dance.
