Beyonce writes essay on gender inequality

Beyonce wrote the essay as part of a media initiative led by Maria Shriver.
Los Angeles: Beyonce Knowles-Carter has takenup the issue of gender inequality by writing an essay on it.

The 32-year old singer wrote the essay titled 'GenderEquality is a Myth' for 'The Shriver Report', a mediainitiative led by Maria Shriver that seeks women empowermentin US.

"We need to stop buying into the myth about genderequality. It isn't a reality yet. Today, women make up half ofthe US workforce, but the average working woman earns only 77per cent of what the average working man makes.

"But unless women and men both say this is unacceptable,things will not change," Beyonce wrote.

Beyonce has also urged for working together to provide 100per cent equal opportunities to women.

"Women are more than 50 per cent of the population andmore than 50 per cent of voters. We must demand that we allreceive 100 per cent of the opportunities," she wrote.

Beyonce has joined the list of celebrities like JenniferGarner, Jada Pinkett Smith, Eva Longoria from the show worldand LeBron James (basket-ball star) who have penned essays tosupport the cause.
