Bhandarkar's first comedy to shock fans
Hyderabad: Known till now for his reality-based films, director Madhur Bhandarkar says that he wants to"shock" the audiences with his first rom-com, Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji.

"For the first time I am coming out with a movie which isvery different from the realistic cinema which I make. Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji is about three guys and their love interest.

After making hard-hitting movies like Page 3, Corporate,Fashion and Jail, I just thought let's shock the audiencewith a different kind of cinema, Bhandarkar said.

The director was here yesterday to promote the film whichwill release on January 26.

Dil Toh... stars Ajay Devgan, Omi Vaidya, Emraan HashmiShruti Hassan, Shazahn Padamsee and Shraddha Das.

Bhandarkar, a three-time national award winning director,said that though the film was different from his earlierworks, it was still a "realistic" comedy.

He said that he was happy with the realistic treatment,"because I was making this film within my limits".

Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji is not a senseless comedy. It isvery logical and has the characters which one can relate to.Everybody in the film... when you see the characters you willfeel it is the story of a person who one can identify with,"Bhandarkar said.

When asked how the idea of making a comedy struck him,Bhandarkar said he always wanted to make one. "In fact longtime ago, when I was shooting Chandni Bar in Hyderabad, Tabuused to ask me 'why don't you make a comedy'."

"I liked the films of Hrishikesh Mukherjee and BasuChatterji, and I always thought a day will come when I willalso make one. I am absolutely a very funny guy and I have agreat sense of humour. I keep laughing at myself and love tomimic people," he said.

Bhandarkar expressed confidence that people will likeDil Toh Baccha Hai Ji "I am sure people will extend the same love to (Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji) as they have to my films for all these yearssince Chandni Bar.

Asked if it was difficult to make a comedy, Bhandarkarsaid, "It is very difficult to make people laugh throughcomedies, and especially through a film like Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji. But, overall, it was easy to direct the filmdue to the team. The screenplay was good too."
