London:
Teen popstar Justin Beiber has issued an apology to his young fans after a photo of him holding up his middle finger to the paparazzi went viral online.
The teenager's gesture was caught on camera while he was exiting a restaurant with girlfriend, Disney star Selena Gomez, after a dinner to celebrate his 17th birthday, reported Contactmusic.
Beiber has now taken to social networking website Twitter to apologise.
"Had a great bday and at the end of the night we got surrounded by paps and I reacted in a way I know better. I'm sorry. It's not always easy but I know better than to react in anger.
"Life has its ups and downs but you guys are always there for me. I will make my mistakes but I promise to continue to grow with you and try to do right," he tweeted.
