Prolific singer Asha Bhosle and legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan were honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 10th edition of the Pune International Film Festival which was inaugurated today.

"The Pune Film Festival wishes to honor me for my contribution to cinema and I find that most embarrassing, for the truth is that I really have not contributed at all," Amitabh Bachchan posted on his blog today.

Many stars from showbiz - cinema and music - were present today at the inauguration.

Noted Tamil music director Ilaiyaraaja was awarded the SD Burman Award for Musical Excellence and Marathi-Hindi actor Sachin who completed 50 years in the industry, was also feted.

Actor Rani Mukherjee was the guest of honour. Her next role is based on the life of a Marathi girl has been shot mostly in Pune. The actor took the audience by surprise by speaking in Marathi.

Asha Bhosle sang a couple of lines from her Tamil songs with Ilaiyaraaja joining her. The versatile singer said singing in Tamil was the most difficult challenge for her.

250 films will be screened this year during the festival.
