Mumbai:
Rubbishing reports of a 'cold war' between him and Bachchan family, Ram Gopal Varma has said that the Big B would be playing the role of a gangster-turned-politician in his coming film, Department.
"Am mighty excited about the role Mr Bachchan is playing in Department....he's playing a gangster turned politician," Varma said on twitter.
"Imagine the Agneepath character turning over a new leaf and yet to have the same hard intensity and been there done that know-how," he said.
After Varma recently announced that Abhishek Bachchan won't be a part of Department, there was a buzz in the B-town that all was not well between the Bachchans and the filmmaker. It was also reported that Amitabh was likely to opt out of the film.
But after the reports appeared, Varma immediately tweeted, "I highly respect Mr Bachchan and am highly affectionate towards Abhishek and the reasons for changes in Department are nothing but date issues. Anyway for whoever wants to know whether we work or not my relationship with the Bachchans is very sacred for me and will remain so forever".
Varma paid a visit to Big B last night at his residence, some reports here said.
The maverick director has worked with Abhishek and Amitabh in films such as Sarkar, Sarkar Raj, Rann, RGVKi Aag, Naach and Nishabd.
Department is said to centre around politics within the hierarchy of Indian police officials, and will feature Amitabh, Sanjay Dutt, Kangana and Rana Daggubati (instead of Abhishek).
