Actor Billy Crystal has hosted aspecial screening of his new family comedy Parental Guidancein his New York hometown because he wanted to help get thearea back up on its feet in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy.
The When Harry Met Sally star gave residents of LongBeach, which was hard hit by the disaster in October, reportedthe New York Daily News.
"It was very emotional. I was born in New York City, livedin the Bronx for three or four years, but Long Beach was myhometown. It was like seeing somebody you love get beaten up,so I had this idea.
"The theatre is demolished but the city of Lynbrook openedits arms and we had 2,500 people come on buses to the theatrethere. It was really something. I haven't lived in Long Beachsince 1976, but in a way, I never left. I'll do whatever I canto help that town back up on its feet," he said.
The film also stars Bette Midler, Marisa Tomei and TomEverett Scott and directed by Andy Fickman.
