Bob Marley's daughter grows marijuana at home
Los Angeles: Music legend Bob Marley's youngest daughter Makeda Jahnesta Marley, has pleaded guilty to growing marijuana in her home.

The 29-year-old admitted to having nearly a dozen large marijuana plants insider home near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, reported TMZ online. Makeda is one of 13 children born to the Jamaican singer credited with making reggae music so popular. The I Shot the Sheriff hitmaker was a known advocate of marijuana, saying it helped with spiritual enlightenment.

She was arrested in 2008 after police say they found her removing plants used to make the illegal drug from the basement when officers arrived on a domestic dispute call. Prosecutors in West Chester, agreed to drop a  mandatory year prison sentence in return for Makeda's guilty plea.

Sentencing will take place in October, but prosecutors said they expected Makeda to be placed on probation. At an earlier court hearing Makeda said she had exhausted a trust fund she received from her father's estate when she turned 18 and was working as a waitress.

Her mother Yvette Crichton is the last of several women with whom Bob Marley is officially recognized as fathering a child. Makeda was born in Miami, Florida, three weeks after her father died from cancer in 1981 at the age of 36.

He left an estate worth more than $20 million and almost 30 years after his death generates more than $5 million a year from his records and other merchandise linked to the star.
