In its first week, Salman Khan-starrer Bodyguard has collected $1.4 million at the box office in North America, claim the film's promoters in the US.
Playing in 88 theaters across US and Canada, Bodyguard's weekend numbers included $ 863,531 over the Friday-to-Sunday period and $1,051,132 across the Friday-to-Monday Labor Day holiday period.
Since opening on Wednesday, August 31, the action-romancehas collected USD 1,361,790 and is expected to break the USD 2 million barrier in its second week.
Bodyguard's per-theater average of $ 11,945 was by farthe highest for any film in the North American Top 20 over the weekend, the film's promoters said in a press release.
Promoters said in less than one week, the Reliance Big Pictures release has already surpassed the entire gross of Salman's recent blockbuster hit Dabangg and has beaten the combined totals for his films Ready and Wanted.
