Actress Parineeti Chopra tries to take on Govinda in a dance off in Kill Dil's latest song Bol Beliya, which was released on October 15.
The songs of Kill Dil are being released in a seemingly chronological order and Bol Beliya seems to reaffirm this conjecture.
The first song released was the Kill Dil theme, which gave us a a glimpse of the perfect world that Bhaiyaji (Govinda), Dev (Ranveer) and Tutu (Ali Zafar) inhabited. A world were crime was an adventure that was glorified. The next song, Sweeta, delved further into Dev and Tutu's Life and focused on Dev's pursuit of his lady love Disha (Parineeti). Next was the incredibly irritating Happy Budday song, which showed us the progress Disha and Dev have made as a couple. (Also Read: About Kill Dil Theme)
And now Bol Beliya takes the story further. In the video, we can see that Dev has given up on his partner and mentor to be with Disha. Bhaiyaji's face betrays his angst at being ditched for a girl by his adopted son. Tutu is seen looking dejected and at loss of words while he tries to console Govinda by saying that Dev is away meeting a friend to which he replies,"Aur hum Baap hai uske." (And I am his father).
While Bhaiyaji breaks into a dance to drown his sadness and find some peace in his fury, we are taken to another location where Disha is jiving with Dev, dancing to the same tune albeit in a different mood. What one witnesses is a conflict of emotions in both scenarios. While Dev and Disha's friends egg her on, Bhaiyaji is supported by his henchmen.
There is a reason why Govinda is a truly one-of-a-kind, and this song is a testament to same. The actor, known to be an amazingly emotive dancer , lives up to his reputation with his performance in this number. The dejection, fears , sadness and anger that is burning the heart of Bhaiyaji is clearly visible in his performance.
He was one of the first Bollywood stars to make dance his USP and over the years, even though he has been surpassed in his star status, not many have managed to beat him in his original style.
Parineeti, who finally gets the spotlight (though she can't outshine Govinda) in Kill Dil, does a decent job. She looks attractive and goes through her routine with grace. In few scenes, where her steps need to match Govinda's, she doesn't look too shabby either.
Overall, Bol Beliya is a powerful song. Nothing new for actors, viewers or for Yash Raj regulars but in terms of Kill Dil the plot is almost completely out in the open, unless there is a surprise hidden somewhere.
