The first day of the 11th AutoExpo saw some of the biggest names from the B-town includingmega star Amitabh Bachchan and John Abraham adding Bollywoodglamour to the car show.
Other celebrities who flew down to the capital to lendtheir support to their favourite brands were heartthrob RanbirKapoor, Katrina Kaif and actor-director Farhan Akhtar.
Amitabh Bachchan, an automobile buff, unveiled DC Avantia creation of automotive designer Dilip Chabaria.
"I am very happy to promote this car. Me and Dilip goa long way. We have mutual respect and interest for eachother's work. I think what he has been doing is amazing and atalent like him should be encouraged," he said.
The 69-year-old actor hailed the 25 lakh car as thecountry's first super car.
"With this car, we can now prove to the world that Indiais no less than any other country. I hope DC continues to dothe good work and make us proud," Bachchan added.
Bollywood hunk and passionate biker John Abraham, who isthe brand ambassador for Yamaha motors, unveiled a girlsscooty, a maiden venture by the company.
"I have been a big fan of Yamaha for the past 7 years. Myassociation with the brand is growing with each passing day.In my last film, Desi Boyz, the director had asked me toride some other bike and I denied and rode my very own YamahaV-Max. My first bike was an Yamaha RD 315 and it all startedfrom there," said John while unveiling the first 'she' Yamahain pink.
Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, who is the brandambassador to represent the Nissan brand in India, alsostopped by for a visit to the company pavilion at the Expo.
Actress Katrina Kaif launched the latest Audi baby Q3 andsaid that after this she is officially part of the Audifamily.
"I am officially part of the Audi family now. As anactor, we have to travel a lot and so cars are an extendedpart of us. The choice of car reflects our personality,"Katrina said.
Director-actor Farhan Akhtar, who starred in a road moviedirected by sister Zoya Akhtar, said he loves to go on longroad trips in real life as well.
"I go on road trips very often. I tag along my friendsannd family and just hit the road. My last road trip was withmy family in Europe," Farhan said at Mercedes-Benz pavilion.
Cricketor Irfan Pathan and writer Chetan Bhagat were alsopart of the various launches and unveiling on the first day ofthe Auto Expo, which will run till January 11.
