Bollywood has lost an iconic figure: Chavan
Mumbai: Besides film industry, the demise of veteran actor Shammi Kapoor is being condoled from the all walks of life. Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has said the industry has lost an "iconic figure".

The 79-year-old veteran actor died today morning at Breach Candy Hospital here.

According to Union Minister for Science and Technology Vilasrao Deshmukh, "Shammi Kapoor was a superstar of our era. His dance style was rage in our times. He was a fatherlyfigure for film industry. This is a big loss to the film fraternity".

Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said Shammi Kapoor's death was a "sad day" for Bollywood. Maharashtra deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said with the demise of Shammi Kapoor a "colourful era" of the Hindi film industry has come to an end.
