Chennai:
A book and DVD containing the biography of Tamil film actor, late Gemini Ganesan, would be released here on November 21 to mark his 90th birth anniversary celeberations.
Chief Minister M Karunanidhi would release both the DVD and the book at a function to be held here, Gemini's daughter Dr Kamala Selvaraj told reporters here.
She said film director K Balachander would be the first recipient of the two-and-half hour DVD, which contains Gemini's biography and his contribution to Tamil Film Industry. The first copy of the book would be received by Vaali and Vairamuthu,
both noted lyrists.
Born on 17 November 1920, Gemini, in his film career spanning over five decades, has acted in more than 200 films (mostly Tamil), including a few in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. He died on March 22, 2005.
In his long career, he paired with many top heroines such as Savitri, Anjalidevi, Banumathi, Padmini, Saroja Devi, Vaijayanthimala, "Sowcar" Janaki, KR Vijaya, Devika, and
Jayalalithaa.
Gemini was awarded the Padma Shri in 1971.
