New Delhi: Actor Brad Pitt is shooting in Chandigarh for Kathryn Bigelow's film on the US raid that located and killed Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad.
Chandigarh's Sector 15 was dressed up to impersonate Abbottabad in Pakistan. Mr Pitt, seen just three days ago with a right-leg-baring Angelina Jolie at the Oscars, managed not to be caught on camera by the paparazzi.
Ms Bigelow's unit will shoot in and around Chandigarh for the next few days. She's also expected to travel to Patiala for some scenes.
In 2010, she made Hollywood history when she won the Oscar for Best Director for her movie, The Hurt Locker, becoming the first woman to do so. She defeated ex-husband James Cameron who was nominated for Avataar.
The film on Osama, which could be titled Zero Dark Thirty and will release this December according to unconfirmed reports, has been the subject of much controversy even before it began filming because of allegations that the producers were granted access to classified information about the operation by the Obama government.
A formal probe is underway and a government watchdog has sued the CIA and Defense departments for failing to make public what level of information was shared with director Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal.
Osama bin Laden, who masterminded the 9/11 attacks, was killed in a mission by US Navy SEAL 6 on the night of May 1, 2011 after a 10 year long manhunt.
Pitt was last in India in October, 2006 when Jolie was shooting for A Mighty Heart in Pune. This latest visit caps a recent round of visits to India by international celebrities such as talk show queen Oprah Winfrey, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tom Cruise.
