The Toxic singer - who was there to present a clip during the event - revealed she landed a record contract thanks to her performance of Whitney's song 'I Have Nothing', but said the show, entitled We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston, was a "solemn" occasion.
She tweeted: "Backstage at The Whitney Houston Tribute. Such a solemn occasion. Jason's doing his best to put a smile on my face. (sic)"
