The Hit Me Baby hitmaker regained the top slot bytoppling US President Barack Obama and veteran performer Cherto garner 31 per cent of the vote in the Orange CountyEquality Project's poll.
Madonna came second with 25 per cent of the voteclaiming it to be a close call between the two superstars tofind the quintessential gay icon, reported Contactmusic.
"When Madonna puts out a new album, she will be on topagain. Madonna is the greatest icon the gay community has everhad," the Equality Project's Joel Waddell said.
Pop diva Lady Gaga, famous for her onstage antics wasvoted in third with 22 per cent, while Firework hitmakerKaty Perry received 12 per cent votes.
