Now, the organisers of the Golden Raspberry Awards have announced that they are taking back the award given to the actor due to his illness. For the unversed, the Razzie awards are given to the worst films every year. In 2021, Bruce Willis was given his own category for worst Bruce Willis performance. "After much thought and consideration, the Razzies have made the decision to rescind the Razzie Award given to Bruce Willis, due to his recently disclosed diagnosis. If someone's medical condition is a factor in their decision making and/or their performance, we acknowledge that it is not appropriate to give them a Razzie," Razzies co-founders John J.B. Wilson and Mo Murphy said in a statement on Thursday, reported PTI.
On Wednesday, Bruce Willis' family announced that the actor is quitting acting due to his illness. The statement reads, "To Bruce's amazing supporters, as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him. his is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support."
Aphasia can affect the ability to speak, write and understand language, both verbal and written. It commonly occurs after a stroke or a head injury.
Bruce Willis started his career in the 1980s and was a part of films like Die Hard, Pulp Fiction, and The Sixth Sense.
