Los Angeles:
Reality TV star Cailtyn Jenner, known as Bruce Jenner before gender transition, has been declared a woman by Los Angeles County Superior Court. Caitlyn, 65, filed for a name and gender change in the court on September 15. On Friday, her lawyers appeared in court, and a judge approved the request.
Caitlyn Jenner was not present in the courtroom, where a live stream of the proceedings was carried out.
According to court documents, she formally requested to be called 'Caitlyn Marie Jenner' instead of 'William Bruce Jenner' in the name and gender petition.
The filing states Caitlyn also requested that information necessary for the process, such as her medical history, be sealed.
Caitlyn said although public support for her transition has been positive, she has received 'unwelcome negative attention from private citizens,' and her motion to file portions of the petition under seal was granted.
