Sonam Kapoor, Freida Pinto and Mallika Sherawat impressed everyone with their red carpet appearance at Cannes.
New Delhi:
The thing about Sonam Kapoor is that you can never tell what she's going to wear, even when you think you know. Sonam, who's built her style cred without a closetful of Sabysachi, wore neither Anamika Khanna nor Dolce & Gabbana for her first red carpet appearance at the Cannes Film Festival this year.
Instead, she chose a giant black beaded Elie Saab dress with her hair in a bob and diamonds in her ears. Sonam was at the premiere of actress Hilary Swank's new pioneer drama The Homesman.

Sonam has been known to wear Elie Saab, beloved of many celebrities including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, at least one other time recently, at a L'Oreal event.

Meanwhile, Freida Pinto has made two stunning appearances at Cannes already. The first in champagne feathered Michael Kors, a colour she rarely wears but clearly looks fabulous in:

Freida's second dress was by Oscar de la Renta in shocking pink, a colour she's been seen in before.

Mallika Sherawat also made a very respectable first showing on the red carpet in blue lace Pucci and diamonds. At the opening of the India Pavilion, Mallika wore a cream and gold lehenga by Indian designer Manish Tripathi.
