Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was fashionably late at the Cannes Film Festival - that is, she was both fashionable and late, The 41-year-old actress, a Cannes veteran of 14 years, delayed her red carpet appearance till May 17, five days into the film festival but certainly created a splash in teal Elie Saab, a favourite designer. At the premiere of Cate Blanchett's new movie Carol, Aishwarya showed up in a sleeveless beaded dress with sheer panels set off to stunning effect by her cascading hair and porcelain skin.
Ash blew a kiss to the cameras.
She even found time for a quick selfie with fellow L'Oreal ambassador Eva Longoria.
Minutes before hitting the red carpet, Aishwarya was playing with her three-year-old daughter Aaradhya who obviously had no idea of the traffic-stopping effect her mother was soon going to have.
This is the 14th year on the French Riviera for Ash who represents cosmetics giant L'Oreal at the event.
On May 16, Ash attended Variety magazine's event on gender equality, wearing a floral Sabyasachi dress.
The actress will also walk the red carpet on May 20 and will unveil the first look of her comeback film Jazbaa on May 19. Her Cannes travelogue will conclude with the amfAR gala on May 21, which she will attend with her husband Abhishek Bachchan.
