As jury member this year, Deepika Padukone is required to make more red carpet appearances than she has in previous years. She's been gamely serving look after look, some of which we've liked more than others. The outfit she wore on the red carpet on Wednesday at the screening of the film Elvis is going to have to go to the bottom of our list. Not she didn't look stunning – Deepika never looks anything less than gorgeous and has the rare ability to elevate every outfit. This Louis Vuitton dress, however, an overpowering creation of brocade and what looks like some sort of fur, definitely requires a Deepika Padukone to make it look good.
Colour us unimpressed but Deepika Padukone's husband Ranveer Singh begs to differ. "Queen," he wrote in the comments section of the actress' Instagram post documenting her look:
On the subject of Ranveer, he was briefly in Cannes with Deepika, having flown out to join her a few days ago. Ranveer is now back and was spotted at Karan Johar's starry 50th birthday party in Mumbai last night.
Meantime, Deepika Padukone was recently announced a 'House Ambassador' of Louis Vuitton and has accordingly dressed the part at Cannes, wearing outfits by the fashion house both on and off the red carpet.
This year, the Cannes Film Festival has been crowded with Indian celebrities in addition to Deepika. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, at Cannes for the twentieth year, walked the red carpet twice before flying home (and was also pictured at Karan Johar's party). Aditi Rao Hydari, Tamannaah Bhatia, Pooja Hegde, Hina Khan, Urvashi Rautela and Helly Shah also made red carpet appearances.
