Cannes Film Festival begins today, India gears up
New Delhi: The 65th Cannes International Film Festival will begin today, and India will be represented by four films and a red-carpet load of stars.

Miss Lovely, directed by Ashim Ahluwalia and starring former Miss India Niharika Singh, will be screened in the Un Certain Regard section. Peddlers, by Vasan Bala, will be part of Critics' Week, and Anurag Kashyap's mammoth crime saga, Gangs of Wasseypur, will be shown in Directors' Fortnight. That's not all - Uday Shankar's 1948 movie Kalpana will be shown as part of Cannes Classics.

On the red carpet, expect to see some familiar faces. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will make her 11th appearance as brand ambassador of L'Oreal. She will also dine at a fundraiser for AIDS research. Mallika Sherawat, an unlikely Cannes regular, will also be on the red carpet as will Sonam Kapoor and Indian export Freida Pinto. Arjun Rampal and wife Mehr will make their Cannes debut this year, representing Chivas Regal.

The India Pavilion, fast becoming one of the hotspots at Cannes, will hold it's annual Incredible India reception. Entertainment will be provided by singer Jasbir Jassi.
