Mumbai: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan mournedthe demise of Captain Lakshmi Sahgal, who died today followinga brief illness, calling her a "fierce freedom fighter".
Sahgal (97) breathed her last at a private hospital atKanpur.
The 69-year-old actor tweeted:
She was very active during the Independence movement andhad commanded the 'Rani of Jhansi Regiment' of the INA formedby Bose. A doctor by profession, Sahgal was working as amedical practitioner and a social worker. She was awardedPadma Vibhushan in 1998.
