Mumbai:
Pregnant models were never a trend at Indian fashion shows till supermodel Carol Gracias, showing her baby bump, came down the runway for designer Gaurang Shah on the second day of the summer-resort edition of Lakme Fashion Week on Thursday.
The designer posted on his Instagram:
Carol looked beautiful in a green and pink sari, however, it was not the design but the confidence of mother-to-be while taking the walk that grabbed the attention of the people present in the show area.
Gaurang's Spring Summer-16 collection "Calico" was inspired by the aesthetics of early 20th century Indian royalty and also united traditional Indian textiles with vintage silhouettes.
Manasi Scott set the tone for the show, as she played a beautiful composition of Indian Jazz music as 40 models walked gracefully down the ramp one after another. But it was Carol who stole the limelight in the show with her grace - and has hopefully laid foundation for the trend.
