Hyderabad: A case was filed on Tuesday eveningagainst Telugu actor-producer M Mohan Babu and three othersfor allegedly insulting the Brahmin community in his latestmovie Denikaina Ready.
However, Mohan Babu asserted there was nothing in themovie that insulted Brahmins or any other community.
Following a court directive, Malkajgiri police filedthe case against Mohan Babu, his actor son Manchu Vishnu andcomedy actor Brahmanandam, who star in the movie, besides itsdirector G Nageswar Reddy, on charges of criminal conspiracyand promoting enmity between different groups on grounds ofreligion and other relevant sections of the IPC, a seniorpolice officer said.
Members of a Brahmin association had filed a petitionbefore a local court against Mohan Babu and others accusingthem of allegedly insulting Brahmin culture and hurting theirsentiments. After hearing their petition the court haddirected the police to investigate and register a case.
On Monday, different Brahmin associations held ademonstration in front of the actor's house in Film Nagar overalleged derogatory portrayal of their community and demanded aban on his son's film. The protesters alleged that priestsbelonging to the Brahmin community were shown in poor light inthe film and demanded a ban on the movie as well as an apologyfrom Mohan Babu.
