New Delhi: Chef, starring Saif Ali Khan, is this week's major release. However, the film got a low start on Friday (Day 1), tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh. "Chef has a shockingly low start... Friday Rs 1.05 crore. India biz... Need to witness massive growth on Saturday and Sunday to sustain," he wrote. The film stars Saif as a divorced chef Roshan Kalra, who embarks on a food journey on road, with his son in order to connect with him. "Chef has taken the lowest opening of the year. It should have at least got past films like Noor and Guest In London," reported Box Office India.

Here's how much Chef has scored.

In his review for NDTV, film critic Raja Sen gave Chef 2 stars out of 5. "Chef is a nothing film. It holds no secret sauce of its own, but perhaps we shouldn't be that surprised. There is only that much you can do with a reheated film. Khan isn't bad in the film, and, while watching him in his kitchen whites yelling furiously at his staff appears too unrealistic - it all looks very Marco Pierre White-Privilege - the actor has learnt how to handle a knife," he wrote. Chef is a remake of Jon Favreau's 2014 film of the same name.

Chef is Saif Ali Khan's second release of the year. He was last seen in the poorly-received Rangoon, which released in February. The film also starred Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor.

Padmapriya Janakiraman, Dhanish Karthik, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Neha Saxen also form the cast of Saif Ali Khan's Chef.
