New Delhi:
Saif Ali Khan's Chef, which released last Friday, hasn't shown much growth at the box office. Chef, which collected Rs 85 lakh at the box office on Day 1, currently stands at Rs 3.85 crore. Box Office India reports that on Monday, the film just earned Rs 50 lakh and the weekend score was Rs 2.50 crore. Chef is Saif's second release of this year after Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon, which also tanked at the box office despite featuring stars like Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh earlier described Chef as a 'disaster' at the box office with 'extremely poor' collections.
Here's what he previously tweeted.
Chef stars Saif Ali Khan as a divorced chef Roshan Kalra. Padmapriya Janakiraman, Dhanish Karthik, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Neha Saxen also form the cast of the film. Chef is a remake of Jon Favreau's 2014 Hollywood film of the same name.
In his review for NDTV, film critic Raja Sen gave Saif's Chef 2 stars. "Chef is a nothing film. It holds no secret sauce of its own, but perhaps we shouldn't be that surprised. There is only that much you can do with a reheated film. Khan isn't bad in the film, and, while watching him in his kitchen whites yelling furiously at his staff appears too unrealistic - it all looks very Marco Pierre White-Privilege - the actor has learnt how to handle a knife," he wrote.
Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan's Judwaa 2, which released two Fridays ago, stands 'rocksteady' at the box office and has so far earned over Rs 119 crore.

#Chef is a DISASTER... Fri 1.05 cr, Sat 1.35 cr, Sun 1.60 cr. Total: 4 cr. India biz.

#Chef has a shockingly low start... Fri 1.05 cr. India biz... Need to witness massive growth on Sat and Sun to sustain.
