New Delhi:
Cheryl Cole is being lined up for a role in the hit television show Modern Family.
The 28-year-old singer - who premiered her new single Call My Name - has been approached by bosses of the multi-award winning ABC comedy to take on a guest part.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "They really want to get Cheryl involved. And it's a coveted slot. Everyone from Britney Spears to Lady Gaga have made it known that they would love to appear in it. It's a real honour to be asked to do it and it would be a great next step after Cheryl's appearance in the movie What To Expect When You're Expecting."
Modern Family is one of the most successful sitcoms in the US and a role would boost her profile in America where she is trying to replicate the pop success she has enjoyed in Britain.
Cheryl - who divorced her soccer player husband Ashley Cole after it was revealed he had repeatedly cheated on her - now plans to drop her surname and will be known professionally only by her first name.
A source said recently: "Cheryl is beginning a new chapter in her life so she doesn't want to be associated with negative stuff from the past. She's not removing Cole legally, it's just a career statement. She's in a really good place at the moment and wants to take life by the balls. She can't wait to start performing live again and her new stage name has given her comeback an extra bit of spice."
