New Delhi:
Hours after Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington was found dead in an apparent suicide, his wife Talinda's Twitter account appeared to have been hacked with several distasteful tweets sent out. The tweets, now deleted, claimed an affair with Linkin Park member Mike Shinoda and that Talinda Bennington was 'glad' her husband had killed himself. The posts are no longer available on Ms Bennington's handle, which is a verified account. Twitter users are now offering sympathy for the suspected hack. "I feel like I'm going to throw up," read one tweet. "Hacker is making my heart hurt so much," read another.
Ms Bennington has not acknowledged the suspected hack as yet.
Chester Bennington, who was just 41, was found hanged to death in his Los Angeles home. The coroner's office said the death is being treated as a possible suicide, reported news agency AFP. Bandmate Mike Shinoda confirmed the death in a tweet:
Chester Bennington has been the lead vocalist for Linkin Park since 1999. The Grammy-winning band released an album titled One More Light in May. They released the music video for the single Talking To Myself hours before Mr Bennington was found dead. The focus of Talking To Myself is Talinda Bennington, the singer's second wife, urging him to cut down on drug abuse. Mr Bennington had written emotionally about the death of seminal Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell in May.
Linkin Park, known for their melodic style of metal mixed with rap, were meant to begin a tour next week. Tributes for Chester Bennington have poured in from musicians like Nile Rodgers, Rihanna and Avril Lavigne.
