Christopher Nolan, Anne Hathaway Talk Of The Dark Knight Rises

New York: On the red carpet at this weekend's Academy Awards, Christopher Nolan was probed about his next project, the long-awaited The Dark Knight Rises, which begins production this summer and comes to theaters July 20th, 2012.

The director was very tight-lipped when asked about the theme of the third film:
"Wow! That's a tricky one," said Christopher Nolan. "I actually don't have an answer for you today. I'm gonna have to really think about that."

When asked to comment on the recent castings of Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway to portray Bane and Selina Kyle, the director was evasive:

"Once you see the film in 2012, you will completely understand why they were the perfect choice for these characters," he said.

When asked whether he'd be willing to produce a fourth film in the franchise instead of directing, given his recent assertion that The Dark Knight Rises will be the final Batman movie he directs:

"Well, I'll say this: We're very much excited about really finishing a trilogy and giving a conclusion to our story," he said. "And that's what we're doing."

Anne Hathaway told Oprah the real story about how she was asked to host the Academy Awards: that she got the call while she was waiting to hear if she'd been cast as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises.
