Coldplay have raised more than 500,000pounds for charity by selling off a graffiti-covered wallwhich featured on the sleeve of their album Mylo Xyloto.
The musicians displayed the large piece, a collaborationwith street artist Paris, at Proud Galleries here ahead of anauction in aid of Kids Company, a charity which helps at-riskchildren in the capital, reported Daily Star online.
The huge artwork sold to an anonymous bidder from the FarEast for 500,000 pounds, while other art works by the band andbehind-the-scenes photographs from their life on the roadraised another 110,000 pounds, taking the total to 610,000pounds.
A post on the band's Twitter page said, "Take a bowColdplay fans. An incredible 610,000 pounds raised so far fromthe Mylo art sale."
Frontman Chris Martin will be doing more for charity thismonth by taking part in a New York City gig to raise money forvictims of superstorm Sandy.
The singer has been added to the line-up of the 12-12-12gig at Madison Square Garden alongside Bon Jovi, Dave Grohl,Billy Joel, Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen.
