London:
Colin Firth does not mind trading his youthful looks for a few wrinkles because the actor believes that he has a boring face.
The British actor, who shot to fame playing William Darcy in Pride & Prejudice and Bridget Jones Diary, feels he did not have an interesting face when he was younger, reported Contactmusic.
Turning 50 has certainly done well for the actor, who won critical acclaim for his portrayal of a lonely gay man in Tom Ford's A Single Man and is now a strong contender for the Best Actor trophy at the coming Oscars for his role in 'The Kings' Speech.
"When I was about 25, I remember looking at older actors I was working with - brilliant older actors - andthinking, 'I can't wait to get a few wrinkles'. I had such an utterly boring face at that age and longed for a bit of weathering and a bit of texture," Firth said.
However, the Oscar-nominated star doesn't want to look too old, adding, "Just as long as I don't fall apart completely."
He also believes being middle-aged is "interesting" because he can play many different characters in movies.
"I think middle age is interesting. You have a past and, hopefully, a future, and that provides interesting material," Firth said.
