Mumbai:
Having starred in many successfulcomedies like Masti, Dhamaal, Malamaal Weekly, HeyBaby and Housefull among others, actor Riteish Deshmukhfeels that comic capers click due to good scripts and punchesand the credit must be given to writers, not actors.
"In comedy, actors are just 20 per cent, 80 per cent isthe script. Writer is actually the backbone of comedy, ifwritten well then it is going to be comedy, if not writtenwell then you are doing buffoonery," Riteish said.
"When in a particular scene if one says he or she ishoused down or I fell off my chair etc that is all because ofthe writer and director, only a part of the credit goes toactor," he said.
Riteish started out his career in Bollywood with romanticfilm, Tujhe Meri Kasam, which did not do well at the boxoffice. His next release Out Of Control was again adisappointment, but he was back with a bang in Masti andthen gave many box office hits including the slap stick KyaKool Hai Hum.
The 32-year-old would be seen next in Sajid Khan'sHousefull 2 which has an ensemble star cast of Akshay Kumar,John Abraham, Shreyas Talpade, Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez,Zarine Khan, Shazahn Padamsee, Mithun Chakraborty, RandhirKapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Boman Irani.
Ask him how much of credit should be given to actorsin Housefull 2, Riteish says, "Again I feel it is only thewriter and director who have given their best. Films likeHeyy Babyy, Housefull, Housefull 2 all have come outwell due to hard work of Sajid Nadiadwala (producer), SajidKhan (director-writer), Sajid Farhad (writer)."
The film releases on April 5.
