Actress Neetu Chandra, who has beenmissing from Hindi movies for over a year now, says she ishappy doing regional cinema as it offers much more quality andcontent.
The actress has worked in Bollywood films like GaramMasala, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye! and Traffic Signal.Her last release was Kucch Luv Jaisaa, which did notwork well at the box office.
Chandra is also doing Tamil and Telegu cinema and has aGreek project in her kitty titled Home Sweet Home.
"I have done quality films in six years and I am notgoing to look at quantity. Coming from a non-film backgroundthe industry does not give you chances again and again. So Iam being careful with my choices. Today regional cinema hasmuch more quality.
"I am doing a Tamil film, a Greek movie, I do plays so Iam happy doing work which makes sense. I will not do acommercial without content," Chandra told PTI on the sidelinesof the 43rd International Film Festival of India.
The actress has recently turned producer with theBhojpuri movie "Deswa", directed by her brother. She says thekind of Bhojpuri cinema which is being made today cannot bewatched with family because it is so vulgar and she wanted tochange that.
"Production happened to me because my brother wasdirecting this film and financers backed out from every cornerand there was this passion of making a revolutionary Bhojpurifilm.
"In Bihar, only the rickshaw-pullers and auto drivers arethe target audience for the kind of Bhojpuri cinema that isbeing made today. You can't go and watch a Bhojpuri film withfamily because most of the movies are vulgar and cheap," sheadded.
Asked about her next production, Chandra said, "I don'thave the strength to make another Bhojpuri film right nowbecause 'Deswa' has taken a lot from me. Either I can act orproduce, not capable of doing both the things at the sametime."
The actress has Hindi the movie Kusar Prasad Ka Bhootand one Tamil movie with director Ameer Sultan set to releasenext year.
