New Delhi:
Biopics seems to be the latest Bollywood craze and Apoorva Lakhia, director of Shootout at Lokhandwala, has cast Sonakshi Sinha in the starring role in Haseena - The Queen of Mumbai, a film on the life of Dawood Ibrahim's sister Haseena Parkar.
On twitter, Sonakshi described the script as 'brilliant' and said she couldn't "wait to play Haseena."
Produced by Mubina Rattonsey, the movie will track 40 years of Haseena's life as the sister of one of India's most wanted outlaws. Haseena Parkar, one of Dawood's 11 siblings, died in 2014 after a heart attack.
Sonakshi, who was last seen in Tevar opposite Arjun Kapoor, has appeared in a variety of roles in movies like Holiday, Dabangg and Lootera. This is the first time that she will feature in a biopic.
Presently, Sonakshi is judging Indian Idol Junior and also shooting for A R Murugadoss's upcoming thriller Akira.
Haseena - The Queen of Mumbai will begin shooting early next year.
