The Kerala High court today orderedissue of notice to Lissy, former Malayalam actress and wife ofwell-known Bollywood film director Priyadarshan in amaintenance case filed by her father.
Justice T R Ramachandran Nair ordered issue of notice ona petition filed by Lissy's father N D Varkey complaining thatshe refused to pay maintenance ordered by a lower court.
The Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Muvattupuzha, had onJanuary 25 last year, exercising powers under sect 7 of theMaintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior citizens Act2007, ordered Lissy to pay her father Rs 4500 per month forhis daily expenses and Rs 1000 for medicines from January one,2010 until further orders.
The petitioner, who is residing at Pindimana village inKothamanagalam in Ernakulam district, said no amount had beenpaid till date and he was unable to maintain himself as he hadno source of income.
According to him, Lissy had substantial assets worthseveral crores of rupees and her husband was the one of themost highly paid film directors in India. She is justified inpaying maintenance to her father who was even unable topurchase medicines for himself.
