New Delhi: The producer of the controversial disaster film Dam 999, today moved the Supreme Court against banning the release of the film by the Tamil Nadu government.
Sohan Roy, producer and director of the film, in his petition says: "The film Dam 999 does not refer to the present Mullaperiyar dispute between Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The movies talks about dam disaster only.'
The petition says the Tamil Nadu government did not give opportunity to the producer before banning the film. The ban curtails the producer's fundamental right.
The Jayalalithaa government has banned film in Tamil Nadu saying the film refers to the Mullaperiyar Dam dispute and may create panic among the people of the state.
