Debutant actors Aalia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan of Karan Johar next, 'Student Of The Year' are dating even before the shoot begins!

While co-stars falling for each other on sets hardly impresses anyone anymore, this is a first of its kind. Aalia and Varun hit it off just as the casting started and wasted no time in taking things forward.

While Varun has been a Dharma regular and had previously assisted Karan on My Name Is Khan, Alia is a total newbie. Reportedly, the first encounter was a bit awkward but things paced up after that.

A source says, "Both come from filmy families. Aalia is Mahesh Bhatt's daughter and Varun is David Dhawan's son. They started off by getting to know each other's families.

Also, since Aalia is much younger to Varun, he was naturally protective of her. During the narration and first introduction, Varun kept making sure she was comfortable with him."

Apparently, their similar sensibilities and likes worked wonders in bringing them together. "They would often end up discussing the favourite TV shows and movies for several hours.

Varun is a chilled out guy and Aalia enjoys his company. They have a close group of common friends who they hang around with."

One of the reasons they have been bonding is also to break the ice before the actual shoot begins. The two were spotted together in Bandra a couple of times on their way to the rehearsals."
