New Delhi:
Veteran Kathak dancer Pandit Birju Maharaj has choreographed Deepika Padukone's song in her upcoming film Bajirao Mastani.
The period film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is a love story of Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao, played by Ranveer Singh and Deepika's Mastani.
"There is a Kathak song in the film. It has been choreographed by Pandit Birju Maharaj. In fact, I was in Delhi for a week for one-on-one sessions with him," Deepika told reporters in New Delhi at a promotional event of the movie.
Bajirao Mastani also stars Priyanka Chopra in the role of Bajirao's wife Kashibai.
Deepika said that she was happy that Pinga was the first song that she shot for the movie as she had Priyanka for support her. (Also Read: How Priyanka, Deepika Shot Pinga. It Wasn't Easy)
"Songs in Sanjay Leela Bhansali movies are films in themselves. There are three songs where I am dancing. I was glad we started that way. You feel that the focus is not only you and we are sharing the difficulty factor," she said.
The movie is slated to release on December 18.
