Last week, Deepika Padukone gleefully posted a video in which her social media-challenged co-star Ranbir Kapoor stumbles through an explanation of where to find Tamasha's digital presence. As Imtiaz denounces Ranbir's Stone Age approach to social media in best Bollywood fashion, the former Rockstar attempts to defend himself by accusing Deepika of using 'CGI' in the previous 'fake' video. Ye main hoon hi nahi, sir," he claims. Weak, Ranbir. Very weak.
Told in dramatic manner that Imtiaz is pinning his hopes on Deepika now, Ranbir then promises to make amends. "Meri last picture chali nahi, I need the publicity," he says in a bitter-sweet allusion to the debacle that was Bombay Velvet. His director reluctantly allows him a second chance and orders Ranbir to 'have the URLs for Tamasha at (his) fingertips.'
Does Ranbir have better luck this time?
Ranbir is absent from Facebook and Twitter, leaving the social network shenanigans to his father Rishi Kapoor who, at 63, has established himself as an Agent Provocateur of sorts on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Team Tamasha has been compensating for Ranbir's failings by sharing images from the film which would tempt the most hard-to-please surfers (and potential ticket buyers):
Most of the images are from Corsica where much of the film is set. Deepika plays an Asterix fan in the film and Corsica is the scene of one the indomitable Gaul's comic book adventures.
Tamasha, slated to release on November 27, reunites Ranbir and Deepika after 2013 hit film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. Deepika has also worked with Imtiaz in Love Aaj Kal and Ranbir and Imtiaz last collaborated on Rockstar.
