Los Angeles:
After Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp's name is being attached to Oscar-winner Kathryn Bigelow's upcoming film on organised crime.
Bigelow wants to cast Depp opposite The Da Vinci Code actor and the Public Enemies star is said to be interested but has to work out his scheduling first , Deadline Hollywood reported.
The film tentatively titled Sleeping Dogs has five different stories but there are two major leads which Bigelow wants Depp and Hanks to do.
The Hurt Locker director wants to begin filming the project in February next year but at that time Depp will be busy shooting Tim Burton's Dark Shadows.
The movie revolves around five men of various ages working in triple frontier border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. The area is reportedly a haven for organized crime, with one outlet for the money produced in the area being a source of funding for terrorist groups.
Bigelow, who became the first woman in Oscar history to score the best director trophy for The Hurt Locker has once again teamed up with scriptwriter Mark Boal for the project.
Depp, who is currently filming fourth Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, in London, already has several projects lined up.
Hanks is attached to star in Cloud Atlas and reprise his role as Robert Langdon in The Lost Symbol
