New Delhi: Evergreen star Dev Anand's classic hit Hum Dono (1961) will release in a digitally coloured version in India in February next year.

The movie that saw the veteran in a double role opposite Nanda and Sadhana 50 years ago, will first release overseas on Jan 28 and hit the Indian screens in the first week of February.

"Where ever I go, people talk to me about the film. It's nostalgic, I am releasing the colored version of the film in January for all my fans," Dev Anand, 87, said in a statement.

Produced by Dev Anand's Navketan Films, it was written by his younger brother Vijay Anand and directed by Amarjeet.

"This is the 62nd year of Navketan Films. I have received lots of love from my fans for a long time and 'Hum Dono' was a craze when it released. Lot of people were requesting to release the colour version of the film for a long time," said the star, who has recently also wielded the megaphone for his next Chargesheet.

"Hum Dono" was the last black and white offering from Navketan Films that has produced cult films like Baazi, Guide, Prem Pujari, Tere Ghar Ke Saame and Hare Rama Hare Krishna to name a few.

The outing is also remembered for its still hummed songs like Mai zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya and Abhi na jaao chhodkar.

The coloured version of the film has been created by incorporating state of the art advanced technology in the US and is in anamorphic lens series CinemaScope with Dolby Digital Ex surround sound.
