The mish-mash of English and Tamil was an instant hit with YouTube recording 1.4 million views and 19,000 "likes" in less than a week. #Kolaveri trended on Twitter for days. From Amitabh Bachchan to entrepreneur Anand Mahindra, everyone had a tweet or two about the song.
Dhanush's father Kasthuri Raja, well-known director, has produced the film.
Last year Dhanush won the National Award for Best Actor for the Tamil drama Aadukalam, playing "Karuppu". His last release, rom-com Mayakkam Enna, did well too. With an upcoming debut in Bollywood with Raanjhnaa, all eyes are on Dhanush. If first responses are anything to go by, looks like Dhanush and 3, will sail through.
